Episode Review

I was nervous about this episode when I saw a preview for it that implied it was going to center around a "prank war," but it turns out the prank war is really the B plot of the episode. The A plot centers around tryouts for the Academy sports team. Overall I enjoyed the episode, including the prank war. Showing school rivalry between the Academy and the War College helps flesh out both schools considerably.

Also, I didn't know I wanted to see a relationship between Tig Notaro's Jett Reno and Gina Yashere's Lura Thok, but that scene where they are deciding on dinner plans was... fantastic to say the least.

The episode had a lot of humor and I felt it was entertaining while also being something we haven't properly seen in star trek before. We have seen sports, we have seen some pranks, but not really college sports or a full on prank war.

Holly Hunter's Captain Ake continues to be a joy to watch.

I think on the whole, this episode won't end up on one of my lists of top Star Trek episodes of all time or anything, but it won't be on any list of worst episodes either. All in all, it was... good. I rank this episode a solid Lieutenant.
