SubspaceLink reaches 50 members today

This morning when I opened my inbox I saw a request from a new recruit to join Starfleet. Well congratulations Cadet Stockhausen, you are the 50th member of the SubspaceLink. Also today we have had our 1,300'th hit to the SubspaceLink website. I am pleased to see the SubspaceLink growing as much as it is.

Work on the new SubspaceLink.com domain name progress report

As promised, I intend to keep you posted on work on the website both in the Yahoo!Geocities form that is currently up and running and in the subspacelink.com domain name which is unfortunately down. Well this week at the Yahoo!Geocities section of the website I have finally fixed that annoying JavaScript error that was in the navbar. That problem has been haunting me for months now and I finally found a backwards way of fixing it without loosing the onmouseover events that we all enjoy so much. Also this week I linked up to a boardhost.com message board instead of our well missed message boards that were on the domain name. When the domain name returns I will bring that old board back, but for now please post to my boardhost message board, I really want the subspacelink to center on communication.

This morning as I was searching through some scripts on the internet I found one on bignosebird.com that, with some modifications will be a wonderful addition to the domain name when it returns. No doubt you've seen those E-Cards all over the web, well I'm going to start my own e-card service off of the SubspaceLink.com domain name. It will feature star trek images and midi files for a variety of events. The questions I have now are #1, is this even a good idea, and #2, should I make it available to the public to create the cards or just members? The idea is anyone can see a card if it is sent to him/her, but only subspacelink members will be able to send the cards to people. Or I could just make the ecards open to the general public, what do YOU think? Drop me a line to tell me what you think of my ideas on this matter? My thoughts right now are to make them open to the public, but that's my biased opinion because of the free advertising :). Although I want to give members more and more advantages as much as I can, which is one thing I think that this can be. There are some other scripts I'm looking into and other things I plan to integrate into the subspacelink, but those things are so early in the planning stages that I want to look into it a bit more before I ask for your input on those.

keep the posts coming.
